Reddit RSS is ending. Here is what to follow instead.

Reddit retires its RSS feeds on November 13, 2026. While they still worked, we read the top 100 posts of the month from each of 25 big subreddits, 2,452 in all, and looked at where every post points. Most of what a news subreddit shares comes from publishers with feeds of their own. Below is a working feed for each, checked on October 22, 2026, and an OPML file per subreddit.

What Reddit announced

On September 30, 2026, Reddit told moderators it will stop supporting RSS on November 13, 2026, citing scraping and automated abuse. Moderators are pointed to a Discord relay app for their own communities' alerts. For everyone else, Reddit's own words are that "there is no replacement." The same post gives apps and bots until January 12, 2027 to register with its Developer Platform.

So a feed reader full of subreddit subscriptions goes quiet that day. What replaces it depends on what kind of subreddit it was, and the data splits them cleanly in two.

Two kinds of subreddit

In 15 of the 25, most top posts are links to someone else's site. r/news and r/worldnews were 100 links out of 100. Those stories exist outside Reddit, and the publishers' feeds will keep carrying them. Together these 15 subreddits posted 1,275 outside links, and 579 of them (45%) went to a site with a working feed listed below. The rest is a long tail of sites linked once or twice.

In the other 10, almost nothing links out. r/cooking, r/gardening, r/personalfinance and r/investing were text or images in all 100 top posts. The conversation is the content, so no publisher feed replaces it. For those, the nearest thing is a community on Lemmy or a hashtag on Mastodon, both of which still publish RSS. They are much smaller than the subreddits they stand in for, and we say so below.

Every site linked three or more times in that subreddit's top 100 posts of the month, most-linked first, with its feed. The number is how many of the 100 posts linked there.

Subreddits that are the conversation

These rarely link out, so the replacement is another community, not a publisher. Lemmy communities and Mastodon hashtags both publish RSS without an account.

Size matters here. lemmy.world's c/cooking had about 11,000 subscribers when we looked, a small fraction of r/cooking, and lemmy.world's c/investing had not posted since August. These are the closest communities we found, not equals.

Feeds that answer but are dead, and sites with none

CNN's old feed at rss.cnn.com still answers every request, and its newest item is from May 2023. A reader that subscribed to it gets no error and no news. The Wall Street Journal's old feeds.a.dj.com address stopped in January 2025. Its feed lives on at feeds.content.dowjones.io, which is the one listed above.

AP News and Reuters, two of the most linked sites in r/news and r/worldnews, publish no public feed we could find. If you followed them through Reddit, there is no direct feed to switch to.

Any Lemmy community has a feed at <instance>/feeds/c/<community>.xml. Any Mastodon hashtag has one at <server>/tags/<tag>.rss, and any Bluesky profile at bsky.app/profile/<handle>/rss. If you want a subreddit-by-subreddit suggester for communities, RSS Rescue is a free tool that maps a subreddit to Lemmy, Mastodon and Hacker News.

How we did this, and what it does not say

On October 22, 2026 we read each subreddit's top 100 posts of the past month from its own RSS feed, with a user agent that names us. Reddit rate-limited us after the first request, so we slowed to one request a minute rather than work around it. For every post we took the link it points to. Links back to Reddit and its image hosts count as Reddit posts. YouTube, X, GitHub and Medium count as outside links but are not listed, because they are platforms, not publishers.

We listed every site linked three or more times in a subreddit, then fetched each feed and parsed it on the same day. Where a publisher has sections, we picked the section that matches the subreddit, such as the Guardian's books feed for r/books. Three limits: a month's top posts are not everything a subreddit shares, the counts are one month in one season, and some subreddits are smaller samples (r/gadgets returned 52 posts). The data will not be refreshed, because after November 13 the feeds it came from are gone.

We checked these feeds because FeedsBar is built on feeds: a Mac ticker that runs the headlines you choose along the edge of your screen. You do not need it for any of the feeds above. For more, our best RSS feeds list scores about 500 sources by category.

FeedsBar runs the feeds you pick as a ticker along the edge of your Mac screen. Any feed on this page works in it.
